Mission
Our mission is to help the children in vulnerable communities receive the education they deserve and desperately want. With incarceration in minority communities reaching disproportionately high rates, many of the children most in need are the sons and daughters of imprisoned mothers and fathers. Having a parent affected by mass incarceration is a harsh reality that forever alters the trajectory of countless children. It is an unavoidable by product of excessive incarceration and sentencing and, consequently, a direct feed to the school to prison pipeline for these children. SRC Kids will be a bridge over that pipeline for the individual and groups of children we sponsor. Mentorship, gifts during holidays, school supplies, and more. We identify the needs of these children and, with your support, find ways to meet those needs. While nothing can replace having both parents in the home, the programming of SRC Kids strives to lessen the harm done by mass incarceration and the disadvantages of policies that weigh on the vulnerable, to provide joy and guidance to alter the trajectory of these deserving children towards their pinnacle.

Wallace said he took it personally when he found out the students needed supplies. “I felt it,” he said. “It was visceral, and I wanted to do something about it.” Read More.... |
